A big part of this issue’s focus is on our senior population and their pets. Oftentimes, I hear that pets are the only living thing a senior has, and pets are their reason for getting up in the morning, their total reason for being. So that relationship is exceptionally codependent, and we celebrate all things seniors and pets! We’ve included information on many organizations and businesses that serve seniors and their pets, from senior living communities to food delivery programs. We encourage you, our readers, to post any other tips for our senior community on our Facebook page. Now on to the rest of this issue: when I read Nancy Gallimore’s piece on “Joy Running” (don’t miss it), it brought tears to my eyes and true joy to my heart. Ladybug (who “is” joy running) puts all things into perspective, and it has made me appreciate the little things more in these scary times. There’s a disease afflicting the rabbit population, and Kim Doner provides timely, critical information for rabbit owners. Please pass this message along to any rabbit-owning friends; it could mean the difference between life and death for pets. And for those returning to some semblance of normal, Heide Brandes’ piece on separation anxiety offers tips to help your pet adjust back into the old routine, which means time alone at home without you. Wherever you fall on the spectrum of old to new normal, we hope reading this issue of OKC Pets can help provide some enjoyment—a bit of the old routine we might have taken for granted before. Until next time, Marilyn & Elmer FROM THE PUBLISHER
