This year has brought many challenges and much disagreement, but it’s also taught us some lessons along the way—like discovering how resilient we are as a community, adjusting to this “new normal” and carrying on. One thing I’m sure we can all agree on is that we’re looking to brighter days for 2021! We are proud to present our November/December issue, full of holiday flair! From our annual gift guide items to animal cruelty issues facing our state, we’ve got quite a mix for you, our loyal readers. Did someone say adventure? Rehab specialist Kim Doner reports on bald eagles and how your family can enjoy these majestic creatures (you may want to add binoculars to that holiday gift list right now). Maybe you’d like to bring Fido along. Heide Brandes’ article “The Making of an Adventure Dog” will help prepare your canine for sharing in the great outdoors. We didn’t forget the holidays are synonymous with warming hearts and tummies. That means delectable holiday spreads are just around the corner, and pet expert Travis Brorsen reminds us what foods our dogs can and can’t have. Also, Nancy Gallimore delights us once again with a rescue and foster story that reminds us, even in 2020, there’s still “hope” to be found in the world. As we close out the year, I want to extend a special thank you to everyone who has continued to support our mission in these especially trying times. We’re so fortunate to have such exceptional supporters, and we look forward to a great 2021. All the best and happiest of holidays, Marilyn and Elmer FROM THE PUBLISHER Elmer
