January/February 2022 • OKC Pets 43 Blitz Puppysitting Pet Lawn Green Up G eorge Edwards is a self-described “third- generation Okie” with family roots going back to the opening of the Cherokee Outlet in 1893, the largest of Oklahoma’s five land runs. He grew up in the Oklahoma City area and developed a deep love of the land — and a healthy respect for the soil itself. Edwards, president of Ed- wards Environmental Corporation, has 30 years of experience in environmental issues such as waste- water and soil remediation in oil and gas activities. Now he has a new way to “heal the soil” that will help the many people who have dogs and cats. Edwards has developed and tested a new product, Pet Lawn Green Up, to treat ugly brown spots and regrow grass where pets have urinated repeatedly. “Clean up with Green Up,” Edwards recom- mends. “Your lawn will thank you.” Pet Lawn Green Up is a concentrated liquid soil amendment for dog and cat owners. Pet urine contains salt and ammonia, both of which inhibit the ability of the soil to uptake nutrients. Edwards can explain in chemical and biologic detail how Pet Lawn Green Up works, but the sim- ple story is this: It is effective, safe for people and pets, and easy to use. Mix two or three ounces in a gallon of water and apply it with a watering can or quality end-hose sprayer. The grass should green up in two or three weeks. The lawn can be treated twice a year or as needed. A nursery chain and a seed store in Oklahoma City sell Pet Lawn Green Up. A quart costs $49.95. As more people use Pet Lawn Green Up, Edwards looks forward to seeing healthy lawns throughout the state. It would boost the environ- ment that he feels such a connection with and strives to take care of.
