The Brunos don’t have to complete the sentence about whether the dogs would like to go somewhere — the answer is always a resounding yes. Piper and Scout love going on adven- tures — so no matter what the question, they definitely wanna do that. “They stay at home with Dad during the week,” Kim says. “And on the weekend, they explore with me. Every Saturday and Sunday, they get in the car with me. I just have to say the words ‘Do you wanna,’ and they perk up. Doesn’t matter what else I’m going to say.” Typical adventures include weekly walks for miles at a time. The dogs definitely want to do that. They love car rides anywhere. “Even just to the gas station or to the dog park or to my office, they are always available to go for a ride,” Kim laughs. They also like to go to the Brunos’ place on Grand Lake. The girls enjoy exploring the lake and the surrounding area on foot or via golf cart, with ears blowing in the wind. Piper and Scout are also experienced fliers. Steve is a pilot, and when the Brunos had a plane, the Goldens traveled with them. “They aren’t crazy about going on the plane,” but they nap and doze during the entire flight, Kim says. Dogs of Choice The Brunos are longtime majority own- ers of United Mechanical, a mechanical contracting business in Oklahoma City, and Donohue Commercial Service of Tul- sa. The two have been together for three decades and have always kept Golden Retrievers. “They’re our favorite dogs of choice,” Kim says. The Brunos love flying, photography, art, sailing, traveling, and all animals. Kim is on the board of trustees of Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center in Oklahoma City. They have another home in Newport Beach, California, and an apartment in New York City. The Goldens have traveled Scout and Piper pose happily with their human, Kim Bruno.
