OkcPets Magazine July 2021
July/August 2021 • OKC Pets 35 umbrellas at each table. The park includes separate areas for large and small dogs and features several surface types, allowing dogs to play with each other while being super- vised by “bark rangers” who ensure safe play. Canine visitors must be up to date on vaccinations, and any dog over 1 year of age must be neutered. Solo’s is membership-based. Mem- berships range from day rates ($9.99) to monthly ($29.99) to annual packages ($219.99)—and showing up without a dog is free! Members with day, month or annual passes can enjoy the chaperoned parks, dog washing stations, dog agility activities and special events. Annual members receive discounts on menu items, access to dis- counted training sessions and more perks. For more membership information, visit solosparkandpub.com or follow them on Facebook and Instagram @solosparkandpub. If you’d like to step out and shop at one of the surrounding stores while your pup plays, bark rangers will dog sit for up to three hours—just notify the front desk! During our visit for this review, our group of eight (four dogs and four people) found Solo’s to be a fun experience for you and your dogs! The pups can enjoy their own treat of chopped up chicken, hot dogs or burgers. And unlike other dog-friendly patios where your pup stays next to you the entire time, Solo’s wants them to have fun too! They are welcome on the patio as long as they are leashed and stay next to you, or they can run free and play in the supervised park. This is where the belly rubs are experienced. During the grand opening, the food menu was limited to select items, all of which provided a good sampling. Even with the limited menu, our group managed to try several of the bar’s specialty cocktails, such as The Salty Chihuahua, Hair of the Dog and That’s So Fetch, as well as some of the various beers. With the pups free to run and play, our group was able to have a conversation with- out being overly concerned whether or not the dogs were having fun. A glance toward the unleashed dog play area clearly showed they were enjoying one another as much as the humans. Of course, Jake was the only one that really would have preferred to be with us even though he had to be leashed. Our group gives Solo’s Park & Pub a five-paw review, especially for the dog park/ play time feature. The food was great, and the drinks were good. One member of our group suggested adding a stout beer to the menu, but, overall, it was a positive experience. The pups enjoyed all the interaction, especially the belly rubs offered by bark rangers and the treats offered by Three Dog Bakery. They unanimously agree you should bring your fur babies to this new, exciting restaurant and pub that focuses on entertaining your pup as much as you. Well done, Solo’s Park & Pub.
