36 OKC Pets • July / August 2023 Full Circle Obedience A s the oldest privately owned canine obedience school in the Oklahoma City metro area, Full Circle Obedience believes in the idea of continuing education. Staff members attend seminars and workshops to stay aware of the most progressive, humane, research-based training methods to help ensure a healthy relation- ship between you and your dog. Full Circle Obedience does not subscribe to outdated theories and methods such as dominance, compulsion, or punishment. Sydney Head, training director and owner of Full Circle, is a second-generation dog trainer who, while accompanying her mother, started to handle dogs and attend behavioral seminars at age 10. Now with more than 25 years of experience, she loves to provide information and to educate owners on how to read dogs’ body language and expressions, both micro and macro. “I love helping dog owners understand their dogs’ behavior and the cause and effects of why dogs do what they do,” she says. “Dog training is not about correcting behaviors and establishing domi- nance; it’s about taking away the option to be wrong, redirecting, and repetition. It is rewarding to receive immediate or prolonged updates from clients, sharing their achievements and the dogs’ achievements.” Full Circle Obedience holds multilevel group classes and offers private lessons in the home or at either of its two facilities — 2915 West Britton Road and 7823 Northwest 94th Street. Full Circle specializes in basic obedience skills and a broad spectrum of behavioral issues. Group class discounts are available for shel- ters, rescue organizations, and dogs rescued off the street.
