OkcPets Magazine March 2021

March/April 2021 • OKC Pets 37 allow the pups some playtime before our trek and brunch experience at Hacienda Tacos, lo- cated at 1120 N. Classen Dr. in Oklahoma City (intersection of NW 11th Street and Dewey Ave.). This restaurant is a vibrant new addition to the Midtown dining scene. It offers a Tex-Mex style of cuisine as well as a Saturday brunch (which is what we reviewed), daily lunch spe- cials, an evening menu and, of course, a full bar with tasty drinks. Immediately upon entering, the restaurant’s flair for a fun atmosphere is very evident. The dining room is open and bright and caters to a more conservative crowd; the bar is smaller than some, offering an intimate yet open feel, and serves Mexican beer on tap. The wooden bar top adds a warm aesthetic to the entire restaurant. Additional patio space is scheduled for construction, but, currently, the staff sets out tables on acceptable days for patrons who want to sit outside. Our group was visiting during the brunch hours for Saturday, and we were certainly impressed by the warmth of our reception. The staff immediately seated us, took drink orders and provided brunch menus. Upon their return with our drinks, the staff provided water bowls for the pups (first sign of dog friendliness). Also, the restaurant offers a hamburger patty or grilled chicken for the pups (second sign of dog friendliness). After drinks were delivered and the doggos taken care of, we ordered our meals. I ordered the chicken and waffles with green chiles, and it did not disappoint. Anakela, from our group, ordered the brisket burrito with queso sauce and was surprised by the short time it took to arrive in light of the quality of the food. Chris enjoyed street tacos; his favorite was the barbacoa taco. FYI: Taco Tuesday is a real thing here with street tacos and tasty bar specials. I will be reprimanded (including possible execu- tion) from individuals in our group if I fail to mention the high-quality, extremely delicious chips and queso that Hacienda brings to the table. When your taste buds don’t quite know what they desire, these chips alone (thick cut, crisp, well-seasoned) are a fantastic meal. Our group of humans and doggos thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Hacienda Taco of Midtown and would recommend the restaurant for any type of outing. Hacienda is another dog-friendly restaurant with Tex-Mex flair and a great addi- tion to the Midtown area’s lively dining scene. The dogs gave it a five-paw rating, and the humans gave it five hands raised as well. Hacienda adds that conservative Tex-Mex vibe that has been missing from the Midtown area. Great job, Robbie, owner of Hacienda Tacos, and Robert, general manager. We at Mid- town Mutts welcome you to the area and wish you much success.
