Escondido menu. The new concept focuses on specialty tacos, especially the wet taco, slow-cooked beef birria and cheese on corn tortillas, grilled to order and served with onions, cilantro, lime, and beef consommé for dipping. “What makes us unique from similar concepts is that all of our meals are served with chips, salsa, and queso. And when you order the tacos, you always get two tacos,” said Theinert. The patio itself is massive but covered. Anchored by a central brick fireplace, the patio has fans and additional heaters to combat any type of weather Oklahoma throws at it. The space includes a waterspout to fill up doggie bowls and a gate leading to a relief area for furry customers. “When we selected this space, what we were the most excited about was this huge patio,” Theinert said. “It was an open slate, and we were able to do what we wanted. Our vision was uptown. We envisioned a place where if you lived nearby, you could take your dog for a walk and then come bring your dog and have a margarita on the patio.” Ted’s Tacos and Cantina opened in Oklahoma City last fall, but the ice storm in February forced the eatery to close for three months after flood damage. Now the taco shop is in full swing, Theinert said. One of the most popular aspects of the new Ted’s concept is the generous happy hours and “reverse happy hours.” Score $3 Tecate beer, $4 house margaritas, and $5 Fruitrita and the Swirl from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and all day on Sundays. The reverse happy hour is held from 9 to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 10 p.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday. “We are hoping to do pet events soon,” said Theinert. “With the feel of this neighborhood, we wanted to keep it pet friendly. We knew that in this area, that’s important. People want to come here and watch the game on Saturday and have their dogs with them. It’s a great patio, and we wanted people to bring their dogs.” For more information, go to tedstacocantina.com. Sheet pan nachos
