The recently opened Oklahoma City location is at 3209 Thomas Road, off South 29th Street near Meridian Avenue. Local owners and operators Teresa Arm- stead and Brenda Davidson, who are sis- ters, are pet lovers. Armstead has spent 45 years doing “everything you can imagine in the pet industry,” and Davidson brings 23 years of experience in medical-office management to the business. The brand-new Pet Passages facility has been built from the ground up and includes room for expansion. It features several Rainbow Bridge Rooms, where pets can lie in state while pet parents, family, and other pets can visit to say good-bye. The facility has a 72-hour turnaround, Armstead said. “When we receive your pet at Pet Passages, we will return that pet to you within three business days.” To prepare for the business, Armstead and Davidson researched and trained, visiting Pet Passages locations in Arkansas and completing training in New York and Florida. Armstead spent a month working at the Florida location. “That’s when I fell in love with this busi- ness,” she said. “There’s compassion … and it’s something that I can offer to help peo- ple. I can make a difference in somebody’s life whenever they need it the most.” Pet Passages has corporate headquarters in New York and franchises in New York, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Michigan, Arkansas, Louisiana, Pennsylvania, Flori- da, and Oklahoma. The Pet Passages team is on call 24/7, Armstead said. “If somebody needs us in the middle of the night, they can call us, and we will go to them.” Davidson said, “We love people, and we love pets. Veterinary Eye Center of Oklahoma A s a full-time, board-certified veterinary ophthalmol- ogist serving the Oklahoma City area, Jeff Studer, DVM, DACVO, recently opened the Veterinary Eye Center of Okla- homa with two locations. One is at 3157 North Sooner Road in Edmond. The second is inside the Veteri- nary Emergency Referral Center building at 2121 McKown Drive in Norman. One of only a few Oklahoma veterinary ophthalmologists, Studer treats all non- venomous animals. “I primarily see dogs, but I also see quite a few horses,” he says. “The main problems I encounter are cata- racts, glaucoma, eyelid abnormalities, and corneal disease. I use medical and surgical therapies. Most of my clients are referred by their family veterinarians.” As owner and founder of Veterinary Eye Center of Oklahoma, Studer embraces excellence, integrity, respect, responsibility, and service to enhance people’s lives by providing outstanding ophthalmic care to their pets. “We are specialists committed to deliver- ing the highest level of veterinary care and affection,” Studer says. A board-certified veterinary ophthalmol- ogist is a veterinarian recognized as a dip- lomate by the American College of Veteri- nary Ophthalmologists (DACVO). Studer earned his DVM degree at Oklahoma State University and completed prestigious internships before going into practice. He then served as director of Oklahoma’s two largest multi- disciplinary veterinary specialty hospitals, most recently at the OSU Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital from 2018 to 2022. Studer serves on the OSU Center for Pet Therapy board and the Oklahoma Humane Society veterinary advisory board. Studer’s Edmond location is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and he is on site for appointments on Mon- day, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
