36 OKC Pets • September / October 2022 WELCOME, NEW ADVERTISER OSU College of Veterinary Medicine Boren Veterinary Medical Hospital O KCPets extends a grate- ful welcome to new advertiser OSU Boren Vet- erinary Medical Hospital. Since 1948, the OSU College of Veterinary Medicine has provided out- standing veterinary medical training. Today, a vital part of that training includes the Boren Veterinary Medical Hospital, which provides clinical instruction for students while offering the finest veterinary care for its animal patients. The hospital also serves as a vital resource for practicing veteri- narians. Faculty members willingly consult with private practi- tioners in the interest of animal health care. OSU’s Veterinary Medical Hospital reaches its goals because of faculty members who serve as role models, clients who allow the additional time it takes to teach students in the moment, and veterinarians who refer their patients for specialized treatment. Hospital administrator Wendy Newport is proud to share news of the hospital’s growth with the addition of two new services, behavioral health and dermatology. “So many things are exciting about behavior,” says behavioral health specialist Leticia Fanucchi, DVM, Ph.D. “Being able to teach the students and get the future generation of veterinarians comfortable identifying and addressing behavioral disorders in pets as well as helping clients live a more enjoyable life with their behaviorally challenged pets and reconciling the human-animal bond are what drive me…. We also treat horses, pigs, and exotic species in addition to dogs and cats.” Likewise, Jennifer Thomas, DVM, is thrilled to expand the hospital’s reach with the availability of animal skin, allergy, and ear services in Oklahoma. “We tend to develop long-term relationships with our patients, as many skin and ear conditions require lifelong management,” she says. “By offering these specialty services at OSU’s veterinary hospital, we not only help educate Oklahoma’s future veterinari- ans but our pet owners too. We recognize that skin, ear, and nail/ hoof disease can take a toll on the human-animal bond and affect the functionality of performance and service animals. It is a priv- ilege to help improve the quality of time spent together between owners and their pets.” For more information, visit https://vetmed.okstate.edu.
