20 OklahomaHorses • July / August 2022 Forging a Career Farrier Work Fulfills Goal by Carol Mowdy Bond | Photos courtesy of Kaitlin Luff I n 2021, Kaitlin Luff hung out her shingle as a farrier in Choctaw. And she’s loving every minute of it. No stranger to the equine world, Luff explains, “I grew up in the livestock world with a strong respect for keeping my animals healthy and strong. I’ve wanted to work with horses since I was a kid. Besides a few pasture pets when I was little and a job as a stable hand in high school, I never had much opportu- nity to work or compete in equine activities until learning to be a farrier.” A miniature horse proudly shows off Kaitlin Luff’s Glitter Feet hoof polish in Princess Pink.
