THERAPEUTIC EQUINE-ASSISTED SERVICES breeds while growing up in California and later as Miss Rodeo California 2002. It was at the Tulsa State Fair in the early 1970s that Pruetz’s parents were first introduced to the breed. As Pruetz and her family dove deeper into the horse world as breeders, trainers, and exhibitors, they fell in love with the versatility of the Morgan horse. “Morgans are really hard workers and have a lot of endurance,” Pruetz said. “They really want to please you and are supersmart.” Morgan horses are athletic enough to excel in just about every style of riding and driving under the sun. For anyone curious about the breed, the Grand National pres- ents a unique opportunity to see the breed on full display. “There are generally four rings going for most of the show, so there’s always some- thing interesting for spectators to watch,” Pruetz said. With three sessions every day – 9 a.m., 1 p.m., and 7 p.m. – spectators are sure to find their way to State Fair Park. “The Grand National is something that families can come and enjoy, and it doesn’t cost a thing,” Kraegel said. “Any day of the horse show is a great time to come, but Saturday evening [October 16] is the big night. Everyone dresses really nice because it’s all the big world-championship classes.” The 2021 Grand National &World Championship Morgan Horse Show will be held at State Fair Park on October 9–16.
