22 OklahomaHorses • September/October 2021 such as public speaking that she will use for the rest of her life. Her personal platform revolves around inspiring others to “use their voice,” and Myers believes words have an impact. In fact, she started her podcast, “Use Your Voice: On the Road with Kylie Myers” (available on Apple podcasts), to reach more people with this important message. “I want to be a voice for young people everywhere and to remind adults of the power they have to influence future genera- tions in a positive way,” said Myers. What the Future Holds for Kylie Myers Myers’ statewide reign will wrap up this year, but she will go on to compete in the Miss Rodeo America pageant held in con- junction with the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, which runs from November 28 through December 5. If she does not earn the national title, Myers’ plans include heading to nursing school to become a registered nurse and eventually a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA). “I would love to be involved with med- ical care to people in Third World coun- tries,” said Myers. As for advice to any girls who are inter- ested in competing in local or state rodeo pageants, Myers said, “Remember who you are and where you came from, don’t be afraid, and find mentors to help you along the way.” Myers relayed that she is certainly thankful for her mentors and for the many connections she has made over the years in the rodeo world. She believes her experi- ence with youth rodeo and other equestrian disciplines have taught her responsibility and dedication and have given her a true appreciation for hard work. If you would like to meet Kylie Myers, Miss Rodeo Oklahoma, she will be at the Western Heritage Awards at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum on September 17–18 and at the Historic Okla- homa City Stockyards Christmas Parade in December. 2625 I-35 Frontage Rd.
