4 TulsaPets • July/August 2021 O ne of our oldest rescue organizations, Animal Aid of Tulsa, turns 60 this year, and they’ve accomplished so very much during their existence, truly paving the way for animal advocacy and animal protection in our city. We have the honor of featuring one of their available dogs, Bruno, on our cover, and, boy, we sure think he’s a beauty. You can read his bio on page 7. There are many, many more available at Animal Aid. If you’re looking to adopt, please check them out. And be sure to follow their Facebook page for relocation news and opening dates of their new thrift store on 21st Street, just east of Sheridan. We are always excited about our annual DVM issue, and our special segment is included here. Tulsa is so blessed to have a great group of veterinarians, and we’re proud to include our advertising vets. Be sure to read the stories of those that participated this year! And that brings us to Elu, the great wolfdog, written by Nancy Gallimore. It’s tragic that people breed these animals with not much hope for a fulfilling life, and Nancy brings valuable information to the table about their predicament. I’m personally thrilled that Elu is living her best, happiest life now in Colorado with another wolfdog playmate, Xena. Since the dog days of summer are upon us, now’s a great time to teach your dog to swim. Dog trainer Mary Green gives us some great tips on teaching water safety and fun to your pup. Good material to keep on hand for the future! Another informative article you may want to keep on hand comes from Attorney Melissa Fell, who fills us in on alternative dispute resolution options.
