For many Tulsa-area nonprofits, year-end events to raise funds will provide critical support for programs and services. For the Tulsa Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (TSPCA), year-end campaigns are a good way to educate the public about the organization itself while generating much needed financial support. “Year’s end is a major part of our efforts, not just to finish out the year strong but to have a really solid footing going into the next year as well,” says Lori Long, TSPCA vice president of philanthropy and com- munications. Much more than just a holding place for stray animals, TSPCA provides a range of services with an enormous impact on ani- mals and humans in Oklahoma. In 2022, the organization found homes for more than 1,500 cats and dogs, distributed close to 25,000 pounds of pet food, and admin- istered about 19,000 vaccines. Cash and in-kind donations help support all those endeavors. The theme for this year’s final funding appeal is “A Year of Growth and Paws-ibil- ities,” says Long. “It’s been an incredible year for us in so many ways. The Tulsa SPCA offers low-cost spay and neuter services, vaccines, and basic preventive care for animals such as this tabby kitty.
