Sheridan Road, Tulsa, OK 74133 (918) 764-8131 www.southtulsavet.com Torchlight K9 T orchlight K9 at 1123 East Archer Street is a Tulsa business with a far-reaching clientele. Owned by business partners Ale- sha Brandt of Coweta and Ted Summers of Broken Arrow, it offers training for police dogs and pets and grooming services. “We have been in business 13 years. We are not a franchise, we are locally owned,” says Brandt. “Law enforcement had been our main function until three years ago, when we moved and renovated and added a large pet side. On the law-enforcement side, we currently place about 100 dogs per year into agencies and have dogs serving 57 Oklahoma agencies, 19 states, and three countries. We also do some service work like psychiatric service and comfort dogs for schools and therapy offices.” She adds, “On the pet side, we have hundreds of pets come to us per year for boarding and training, private lessons, and group training. They are from Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, and Missouri. We work with Tulsa Animal Welfare and several other rescues for training as well.” Torchlight’s training programs are customized to best accommodate each specific situation and the dog’s personality. The goal is to create a meaningful lifelong relationship, built on trust on communica- tion, between the owner and the dog. Seminars and current activity for police service dogs include handler courses, fully trained dual-purpose and single-purpose dogs for sale, green dogs, and free training every Tuesday evening for law-enforcement teams. Courses can be customized for law enforcement and military K9 teams. Torchlight also offers customized train- ing for pets. Courses cover puppy prep training, puppy training, board-and-train programs of two weeks or four weeks, and one-on-one private training, which teaches the owner to train the dog. A professional in-house groomer offers mini trims, baths, and full grooms. For more information about Torchlight K9, call (918) 636-1767 or visit https://www.torchlightk9.com.
